Research Regarding Observation of Spatial Segregation in Ankara-Alt�nda� Hill Squatter Region

The large-scale migrations towards large cities that occurred in Turkey after the 1950s have brought about many spatial and social problems. The massive migrant populations moving from rural areas to cities cannot be integrated with the city completely due to these problems. These groups, which settle in the city through informal channels, differentiate in social and economic dimension throughout the city in the course of time. Urban problems caused by the settlement pattern of the large-scale migration in large cities, socio-economic differences and the change of migration quality constitute the spatial divergence. The scarcity of sources in cities and applications performed by upper local institutions on the formal section of the city have created urban inequality throughout the city and accelerated the divergence even further. This study aims to focus on divergences, which occur as a result of the migration movements and are caused by social, economic and spatial inequalities on the area of Ankara-Alt�nda� Hill Squatter Region. Within the scope of this objective, we examined the spatial segregation as both a physical and a social issue using quantitative and qualitative data. The spatial segregation in Eski Alt�nda� was followed profoundly in two stages as local plane and supra-local plane, with the help of interviews.

T�rkiye�de �zellikle 1950�li y�llardan sonra, b�y�k kentlerimize do�ru ba�layan b�y�k �l�ekli g��ler, kentlerin g��e haz�rl�kl� olmamas� nedeniyle, mekansal ve toplumsal boyutta bir�ok sorunu beraberinde getirmi�tir. �zellikle 1980'li y�llarda, k�rdan kente g�� eden n�fus gruplar�n�n bu sorunlara ba�l� olarak kentle b�t�nle�emedikleri g�r�lm��t�r. Kente enformel kanallarla yerle�en bu gruplar, zamanla kent b�t�n�nde sosyal ve ekonomik boyutta farkl�la�maktad�r. B�y�k kentlerde, b�y�k �l�ekli g��n yerle�me bi�iminin olu�turdu�u kentsel sorunlar, sosyo-ekonomik farkl�l�klar ve g�� niteli�inin de�i�mesi mekansal ayr��may� yaratmaktad�r. Kentlerdeki kaynaklar�n k�tl�� ve yerel �st� kurumlar�n, kentin formel kesimlere yapt�� uygulamalar, kent b�t�n�nde kentsel e�itsizli�i olu�turmu� ve ayr��may� daha da h�zland�rm��t�r.

Bu �al��ma; enformel geli�im g�steren Ankara-Alt�nda� Tepesi Gecekondu B�lgesi'nde g�� hareketleri sonucunda olu�an sosyal, ekonomik ve mekansal e�itsizliklerle ortaya ��kan ayr��malar �zerinde odaklanmay� ama�lamaktad�r. �al��mada mekansal ayr��ma; fiziksel ve toplumsal boyutta olmak �zere iki d�zlemde incelenmi�tir. �al��ma kapsam�nda ara�t�rma alan�na ili�kin nicel ve nitel verilerin yan� s�ra, yerel ve yerel-�st� d�zlemde derinlemesine g�r��meler ger�ekle�tirilmi�tir. Bu y�nteme ba�l� olarak, b�lgede ayr��may� ortaya ��karan nedenlerin belirlenmesi sa�lanm��t�r.
