Workshop Study on Impact of 2011 Van Earthquake on Rural Settlement Houses

The impact of economic policy and industrialization has led to considerable urban migration, with negative effects on rural and urban settlements. The consequences of this migration have been felt in Turkey, particularly since the mid-1970s. Unplanned large-scale migration has caused the population of cities to approach 80% of the total population, negatively affecting the economies of rural settlements, as well as agricultural production. Villagers experiencing financial difficulty construct homes at minimum requirements, with inadequate material and structural detail. The rural houses built with earthquakes. Statistical data indicate that the rural population living in areas surrounding Van constitutes 50% of the total population of the province, in spite of large-scale migration and negative effects of the 2011 Van earthquake. Taking this data into consideration, the present study elected to address these rural settlements, and a pilot region was chosen. Two surveys � social and structural � were conducted in the region, and their results led to critical analyses. Shedding light on the settlements� infrastructures and problems experienced by their population, theses analyses also provided comprehensive information concerning the village houses and their structures in the settlements.

2011 Van Depremi�nin K�rsal Yerle�melerin Evleri �zerindeki Etkisi Hakk�nda Bir At�lye �al��mas�

Sanayile�menin etkisi ve izlenen ekonomik politikalar, k�yden kente b�y�k bir g��n ya�anmas�na, k�y ve kent yerle�melerinin de olumsuz olarak etkilenmesine neden oldu. G��n etkisi T�rkiye�de �zellikle 1970 y�llar�n ortas�ndan itibaren hissedilmeye ba�land�. Plans�z b�y�k g��, �ehirlerde ya�ayan insanlar�n say�s�n� toplam n�fusun %80�ine yakla�mas�na, k�rsal yerle�melerin tar�m �retimi ve ekonomisi de olumsuz olarak etkilenmesine neden oldu. Geliri azalan k�yl�, evini asgari ko�ullarda yanl�� malzeme ve yap�sal detaylar ile yapmaya ba�lad�. Hatal� yap�sal detaylarla ortaya ��kan deprem b�lgesindeki k�y evleri de, depremlerden sonra b�y�k hasar tablolar�n ortaya ��kmas�na neden oldu. �statistiksel veriler, ya�anan b�y�k g��e ve 2011 Van Depreminin olumsuz etkilerine ra�men, Van��n k�rsal yerle�melerinde ya�ayan n�fus, toplam il n�fusun %50�sini olu�turdu�unu g�stermektedir. Bu �nemli veriyi dikkate alan �al��ma, ara�t�rmalar�n� Van��n k�rsal yerle�melerinde yapmaya karar vererek bir pilot b�lge se�imi yap�lm��t�r. Ara�t�rmalar s�ras�nda pilot b�lgede sosyal ve yap�sal anket olmak �zere, 2 anket uygulanm��t�r. Anketlerin ortaya ��kard�� sonu�lar, �nemli analizlerin geli�mesine neden olmu�tur. Analizler, bir taraftan yerle�menin altyap�s� ve sorunlar�na ��k tutarken di�er taraftan da, yerle�melerde bulunan k�y evleri ve yap�lar� hakk�nda �ok kapsaml� bilgilerin elde edilmesini sa�lam��t�r.
