Ecological and Technological Cities of the Future

In Turkey, more energy is consumed than the average energy consumption in the world, environmental policies are ignored, greenhouse emission levels are high, issues related to global climate change are disregarded, agricultural land and forestry are destroyed, and the ecological footprint increased; thus, it has become an obligation to take significant precautions. Ecological and technological design of new comfortable, healthy, environmentfriendly, minimum carbon-consuming, self-sufficient settlements contribute to urban sustainability. In this article, selected examples from around the world are analyzed for the future of sustainable cities by putting forward ecological and technological approaches.

T�rkiye�de d�nya toplam enerji t�ketimine g�re daha fazla enerji t�ketilmesi, �evreci politikalar�n g�zard� edilmesi, sera gazlar� emisyonunun fazlal��, k�resel iklim de�i�ikli�inin ciddi yans�malar�, tar�m ve orman alanlar�n�n tahribi ve artan ekolojik ayak izine kar�� daha g��l� tedbirler al�nmas� zorunlu hale gelmi�tir. Konforlu, sa�l�kl�, �evre dostu, minimum karbon t�keten, kendi kendine yeterli yeni ya�am alanlar�n�n ekolojik ve teknolojik olarak tasarlanmas� ile kentsel s�rd�r�lebilirli�e katk� sa�lanmaktad�r. Bu makalede, gelece�in s�rd�r�lebilir kentleri i�in ekolojik ve teknolojik yakla��mlar ortaya koyarak, baz� d�nya �rnekleri incelenmektedir.
