Information for Authors

Megaron is an official publication of Yildiz Technical University, Faculty of Architecture. It is an anonymously double blind peer-reviewed e-journal that publishes original articles, research briefs, book reviews and viewpoints on planning, architecture, design and construction. Priority of publication is given to original studies; therefore, evaluation criteria are more selective for reviews. Four issues are published annually. Indexed in Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (AIAP), TUBITAK ULAKBIM, EBSCO Host Art & Architecture Complete, ERIH PLUS, DOAJ, Gale/Cengage Learning, ASOS Index, DRJI, and Ulrich’s.

Important Notice: Articles produced from master's theses (MA or MS) are not accepted in this journal.

Manuscripts may be submitted in English or in Turkish. The preferred length for manuscripts is 5000 words including Notes and References for articles (except pictures, figures and tables) and 2500-3000 words (including Notes and References) for viewpoints or research briefs. All submissions are initially reviewed by the editors, and then are sent to reviewers. All manuscripts are subject to editing and, if necessary, will be returned to the authors for corrections and improvements. For accuracy and clarity, a detailed manuscript editing is undertaken for all manuscripts accepted for publication. Final galley proofs are sent to the authors for approval.

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; and that its publication in Megaron is approved by all co-authors. The author(s) transfer(s) the copyright to Y?d? Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, effective if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication. The author(s) guarantee(s) that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any other language without the consent of the Faculty.

There is no fee for article submission, article processing or publication.

Open Access:?The MEGARON is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Commons User Licenses:?Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) For non-commercial purposes, lets others distribute and copy the article, and to include in a collective work, as long as they credit the author(s) and provided they do not alter or modify the article.

Copyright Notice:?All published material will become the sole property and will be copyrighted by the Journal. No part of the publication may be used without prior written permission of the publisher. Articles and illustrations become the property of the Journal after publication.

Policy of screening for plagiarism: The manuscripts are scanned by the Publisher?s Office using the iThenticate program for determination of plagiarism and non-ethical situations.

Manuscript preparation: Manuscripts should have double-line spacing, leaving 3 centimeter margins on all sides of the page. The font size (12 points) and style (Times New Roman) should be taken into account. All pages of the main text should be numbered. Application letter; cover letter; English and Turkish (for Turkish authors only) abstracts; tables, figures and pictures should be submitted as separate files. There should be no information about the author(s) identity in the main text and abstracts.

The application letter must contain a brief statement that the manuscript has been read and approved by all authors; that it has not been submitted to; or is not under consideration for publication in another journal. It should contain the names and signatures of all authors.

The cover letter must contain the title of the paper, the names and affiliations of the author(s), the name of the institution(s), the name of funds or organizations supporting the research. If the manuscript has been presented at a meeting, this should be stated together with the name of the meeting, date, and the place. If the manuscript is based on a MSc or PhD thesis, the title of the thesis and the institution should be indicated and the name of the supervisor should be added as the second author. Information about the correspondent author (name, address, telephone number and e-mail address) should be provided.

Abstracts should not exceed 250 words. 

Tables, Figures, and Pictures: All tables, figures and pictures should be numbered in the order of appearance in the text. The desired position of these illustrations should be indicated in the text. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources. 


Supplementary material which might be beneficial for the reader but not required for the publication of a manuscript can be submitted online. Please take care that each file size does not exceed 10 Mb so as to ensure easy download, and improved online demonstration (AVI, MPEG, MOV). Videos can be sent as more than one brief video. 

All references should be numbered in the order of mention in the text and should be given in abbreviated form (author, year of publication and page numbers) in footnotes. The style and punctuation of these abbreviated references should follow the formats below:

3 Alk?, 1958, s. 201. 
4 Having provided an overview of the literature, this section focuses on?. 
5 Kuban, 2002, s. 97.

The references should be listed in full at the end of the paper in the following standard form. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication.
